Last week, we walked into The Center for a meeting with Ogilvy. At the lobby, Clint and I encountered a young woman talking on the phone.

Clint: That girl looked weird.
Me: How so?
Clint: Her face was really wide.
Me: Yeah, and she had really big eyes.
Clint: Yeah, she looked like Stewie (from Family Guy).
Me: Hmmmm.
Clint: She looked like an alien. Like E.T..
Me: You’re right, that is kinda weird

(pause)

Clint: She was pretty cute, though.

My partner Clint is in town for a couple of weeks. For those who don’t know, we split our roles at Republic straight down the middle: he does all the creative, and I do all the selling. So naturally, he’s the one with the eye for good quality design and handiwork. It also means that he comes imbued with these designer-y quirks and quiddities that I’ll probably never be able to understand.

Case in point, as I was putting on my shoes today to head out to the office, he walked out of his room and noticed that he and I were both wearing striped shirts. Apparently, this is horrifying no-no in designer land, and so he had to go back, take out a non-striped shirt, iron it, and then feel comfortable leaving the house with me in tow. Very strange.

Last night, after about 10 glasses of wine, I got home, put on my nightgown, and then read on my Iphone that Manny Ramirez was going to be suspended for 50 games for a positive drug test.

Manny is the most high profile player on my favorite baseball team that currently has the best record in all of major league baseball. In a sport riddled with cheaters and dopers and general assholes, the well from which I drink has now officially been poisoned.

What an awful, disappointing, story. If I were ten years old I would be crying right now. Fuck it, I’m going to start crying. See you guys later.
